I see, mia culpa. I think that the filter jugs and taps filter only make the water taste better. The fine print on my Britta filter on the taps says it "removes the chlorine taste only," which I imply means that it will not take out the chlorine. Apart from fishkeeping, we have to remember that the chlorine in the water does a lot of good things.
I found that my Britta filter did indeed make the water taste a little better, or may it was all placedo. Either way, it was a small investment.
The real question is what does/would your dad do if the water company treats/treated with chloramine?
