I have chinese algae eaters, and i started a cichlid tank and decided to keep the chinese algae eaters in with the cichlids. Everyone was telling me not to do this because the cichlids would manhandle the chinese algae eaters. But in my case it seems to be the opposite, the chinese algae eaters are more aggressive to the cichlids than the cichlids are to them! Has anyone ever seen this happen?

I have three tanks with a variety of fish. I have a CAE in all three thanks. I have been told not to put more than one in each tank due to fighting. They have never had a problem.

I have one that is now about 7" long (I have had him 6 years). He made it through an oscar and a jack dempsey. They have both passed, but the CAE is still there.

They are great clean up fish, and fast enough to get away from just about anything. Wait until you try to net one of these suckers!

Chinese Algae Eaters don't eat algae much past their youth. Instead they prefer eating the slime coat off of other fishes...possibly even their eyes if they can get to them.

They don't belong in any community tank IMHO.

I got rid of mine from my tank with cichlids.

To aggressive.

Ive never had these, but i have always been told that they get quite mean once their adults. Sucking on the sides of other fish and what not. I would never keep one for that reason.
