I have a thriving population of cherry shrimp (I think mostly because I set up a feeding platform for them). In the same tank though I keep seeing ghost shrimp carrying eggs, but the eggs never seem to hatch and I've never seen a baby ghost shrimp. I would think the ghost shrimp would be easier to breed? Any thoughts on why the eggs never develop?

On a side note- every time I do a water change I get to spend half an hour netting TINY baby cherry shrimp out of the waste water. This means I can't use the siphon that hooks up to the faucet and have to do things the old-fashioned way with buckets. How do other people avoid throwing away baby shrimp, or do you just not worry about it?

You need at least brakish water for ghost shrimp to "be fruitful and multiply"

Interesting. I'm considering setting up a ghost shrimp tank. Is brackish water recommended for ghost shrimp then?

In regards to siphoning out baby shrimp, you could put some mesh over the end of the tube to stop them getting sucked up.
