Hi Guys

Ordered these little fellas of ebay about a week or two back and finally got them today!! They are absolutely stunning, beautiful colour and seem to spend a lot of their time eating the algea, which is always good :good: although, i doubt 6 are really gonna have such a great impact! Still they look kool!

I know a lot fo you have amano shrimp, but do any of you own any of these? Any problems ect i should be aware of?

Anyway, hope you like the pics:

purty :D

and fun to watch i bet

i think i used to have one of these in my old tank... dont they shed there skin everyso oftern? or is that a dif type?

Very cute ! I'd love to have some of those too at some point. Yours should colour up nicely in a couple of weeks I'm sure.

Bloo, interesting you should say that! When they came this morning they were hardly coloured at all, nearly transparent/pink/white. In only 6 hours i could have sworn they have gone more red in colour...i thought it was my eyes....so they do change colour do they?

Anyone any ideas on how you can breed these, i`d love to have some more and potentially supply a few TFF member swith them!

Chris

Absolutely. I would certianly expect them too. Any fish / shrimp etc. that I've ever received by post has always taken a while to settle (get used to their surroundings, tank mates, lighting, food etc.) and colour up. I'm sure if you feed them a nice variety of foods they will certainly colour up much more than that :good:

they are about 1cm-1.5cm ...do you think they are young. I`m a bit worried about my fat ass molly thinking they are large fodder!

Anyone know anything regards breeding?

Also, do i need to feed them anything else or do they just eat the algea?

They are well cool, i bought 10 for my 60L but im down to around 4-5 now. They can be easy meat when they shed there shells, so they need plenty of hidey holes.

yea they are the boyos Qays,

Bloo, those articles are fantastic, cheers! i`m setting a small tank up for plants and wondering whether to just stock these and have it as a breeding tank as well!

I`m slightly worried, i put 6 in and can only see 2 !!! I`ll keep you updated.

BTW fishkiller, one of the ones i can see has a very prodomenant yellow/green mark under its back!!

I HAD cherry shrimp in my 10g, just found my last one dead/half eaten, no doubt the work of my tyrannical blind sparkling gourami, Samson. He is actually smaller than the shrimp were too. Caught him in the act this time, munching away. I'm mad at him now. :grr: Evil gourami is on my s*** list right now, beginning to regret curing him of popeye! :grr: :shout: Sparkling gouramis peaceful, SURE! Tell that to my fish!

I will have them again, but in a tank WITHOUT a tyrannical, blind sparkling gourami with a shrimp complex!

I am done sulking now, I'm glad for your purchase.

Haven't posted here in a while, but I snapped a fairly nice photo of one of my largest cherry reds on Tuesday. She is the largest red I've seen to date, probably an inch long, if not slightly more. The colors are nearly exact, though the white stripe down her back is more of a reflection of the tank lights than anything else; this was taken with no flash.

This one was just taken just before, to show the size comparison with a normal size Oto. They're literally right on top of each other, no depth illusions!

Bugger, looks like i`m one shrimp down already!! there is the body of a shrimp on my riccia carpet!!

How can i tell if its just a skin/shedded or if its a shrimp!

I`m pretty pee`d off now, and my molly looks a bit sheepish hiding in the corner!

They look awesome mate.
To check if its a shed or a shrimp, just pic it up and if its clear its a shed, if you can see all the bits etc (will be obvious) then you know its a shrimp.
Btw, where did you get them on ebay?
