Hi everyone, well since yesterday I have lost 2 females and 2 male Cherry Barbs, there are other fish in the tank and they seem perky and fine the two last Cherry Barbs look in good condition like the others did.

I am worried because my water tests were perfect, I have just treated the tank for White spot which again I was unsure about, my Clown Loach had a few white spots and him I checked the water and everything was spot on so I guess it must be, no other fish had white spots on them so I thought I caught it, might this be the problem ?

I am guessing that the other two Barbs will be dead by the morning, I would move them to another tank but I just put Cichlids in it and they will make a yummy snack for them so I cant :(

Advice or should I just hope for the little guys, I did a water change today of about 60% to make sure !

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
What test kit are you using.
What med are you using.
How you used the full dose of whitespot med.
Have you increased aeration.

Hi there was 6 cherry barbs a sail fin pleco and a clown loach

Tank is 50l 3-4 months old
api master test kit
pets at home white spot treat ment follwed to there suggested amounts

I did not increase aireation in the tank, the pleco and loach are looking quite happy its only the cherry barbs that are dying one left now :( sad times I love them they were the first fish I put in the tank as a litte family :(

The Nitrate ammonia and nitrite all tested 0 I checked my cichlid that and that also was perfect water I dont, I think it was the white spot treatment it can only be that.

I changed about 60% of the water after treatment.

Research the fish before you buy.
The plec shouldn't be in a 50 litre tank, or the clown loach.
Also clown loaches shouldn't be kept in less than a group of 3.

What's your tap nitrate reading. Do you have live plants in the tank?

You must increase aeration with whitespot. As the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.
Were the cherry barbs gasping before they died.

Never move fish to another tank once a fish has whitespot. You just end up with another tank with whitespot.
When one fish has whitespot you still have to treat the whole tank.
Also sterilise equipement after use so you are not passing whitespot onto other tanks.
