Hello. I have not been on the forum for a long time because my tank has been stable for about a year. Over the summer, 2 cherry barb eggs successfully hatched and grew to young adults (this was a completely unexpected "surprise"). I believe they are females, although the sides might be getting redder. I will have to reassess if they turn into males...
My question is about a female that has been in my tank since it started over a year ago. All the females have rounded tummies, but this one has started to stay on the bottom and cannot swim extremely well. She looks like her belly is a bit bigger than the others. She swims around and gets food, but she is swimming on the ground.
The nitrates were high last week, and I did a quick 30% water change. She seems to be the same, maybe a bit more active. I tested the water again tonight and have Ammonia=0, pH=~6.7, and Nitrates=40. I was going to do another 30% change, but none of the other fish are having the belly issue. Is there something else I can do for her?
Thanks for any help!
Rachael
