Anyone know where to buy acrylic rods in the uk for cheap? I really hate the 'scape in my tank (it just looks like a solid wall of rock) but I dont have enough large peices to build really good structures. I want to drill a few of the rocks and hold them together with acrylic rod to make some decent structures but dont want to spend a load of money on it as well.

I have just been looking for exactly the same thing!!!!
Check good ole e bay out, there are lots on there :good:

Trod, they also sell them in Swallows - have a look and let Barney know, we could always post them to him :good:

ps another daft question alert  could you put the rods through holes in the rock and stack it that way, without drilling?

I cant see why not but might be more difficult (will have to find holes that the rod fits into and the rod might be loose).

Never thought about ebay stupidly enough. There is some on 8 and 10mm rod on there for a couple of pound so might order some soon (though I have to try and motivate myself to move all that rock again). The more I look at the tank (and the more I think about how much hassle rescapping is going to be) the more I start to like it how it is ;)

come on you cant forget ebay were all ebay junkies lol i am never of the site

Barney, if you don't like your scape and are not happy with it, but you leave it as the work seems too hard right now. Think how you will feel months down the line when you have stocked it full of corals and fish, then you look at the tank and think, I wish I had bothered to scape it when I had the chance. It will be 100 times harder work and more disturbing things then than if you do it now. Trust me, if you don't like something the longer you leave it the more it will bug you later on.

Barney, also consider using graphite rods from a local hobby store, or local model airplane store. Does a good job as well, it's black so it's easily hidden, and it's significantly thinner/stronger than acrylic :)

Good point Tina :) its a pain to do now but will be even worse once all the fish are back in the tank and I get more corals.

Thats a good idea ski, will have a look and see if I can find anywhere that sells them locally.
