I found some Characodon Lateralis, Guadalupe Aqualera strain up for bid online. I am just amazed by the color on these goodeids. I have never seen a goodeid with such bright colors before. I haven't been able to find much information about them online though. I have found a little bit about differences between the Guadalupe Aqualera strain and others but not much about diet or social/breeding behavior. I have read that the males are very aggressive towards each other but thats about it. Anyone know about or have kept these fish?

Is this website of any help: home.clara.net/brachydibble/Char_lateralis.htm ? Or did you mean more specific info on the Guadalupe strain? I imagine they'd have similar requirements- moderate tropical temperatures and a good mixed livebearer diet with both livefood and greens.

I have thought about characodons myself, but am put off by the reputation for aggressiveness, as I can't afford another species tank atm- still, you could hardly imagine a more attractive looking fish, could you?

I read the males are extremely aggressive. I am planning on having a lot of java moss and crypt plants in there to give hiding space. I usually give my goodeids species tanks, none of the species seem to get along with other fish very well.
