Changing Gravel.

Right ok people.

I was thinking about changing my gravel,

I still haven't full got through the cycling process yet, but would this effect the water at all if I do change it but use the same water that is already in the tank?

Any help would be appreciated

No it would not ruin your cycle, I assume there is not fish in there at the minute?

Change the gravel, fill up with new water, then dose with ammonia to 5ppm

(assuming you are fish-less)

No I actually have 2 guppies in the tank at the moment

aah, probably best to move them into a bucket/large container, along with the heater and the filter, then cover it to make it as dark as possible, replace the gravel, fill with fresh water, then just as a precaution acclimatise them as you would when you bought them.

I just have a feeling the gravel is bad and maybe causing problems in my tank... maybe I didnt wash it properly or something.

what problems are you having then? what sort of gravel is it?

I strongly doubt not washing it would cause any major harm.

Just my Nitrite will NOT reduce.

I have done so many water changes, added plants, air pump, stopped over feeding my guppies, using AmQuel+

just doesn't seem to want to budge... lol

It takes longer for the bacteria that process nitrite to form a colony. Don't worry, you will get there!
