Hi,

I currently have a Fluval 205 in my 200L Malawi Tank and have just brought an all pond solutions 2000Ltr + UV filter - Should be an improvement!

How is the best what to swap them? put some of the old media in the new one?

Thanks

Either put as much of the old filter media in the new one or, run them both for a time and let the media in the new filter mature.

As always, keep an eye on stats for a week or so after changing anything filter wise to check for any untoward changes in ammonia and nitrIte levels.

Cheers

Danny B

If you're swapping to the new one completely, ie. removing the Fluval 205, then just fill the new APS2000 with everything from the 205 and add new media to fill up any spaces.

If you're having both running then just divide the media from the 205 in half and split between the two filters (filling any space with new media).

Why dont you just run both filters on your tank?

If you run both (with 1/2 the mature media in each) to start with then very quickly they will both be full of mature media. If you then decide to get another APS2000 you can just empty all the mature media out of the Fluval 205 without any issues at all.
