Changing Filter Media

hi all just as an idea,how often do you change your filter floss in your external filtersand when do you know?

Change it when it no longer goes back into shape; it tends to go sort of 'stringy' or lumpy. I've has most of my externals a year/two years and I haven't changed it yet; just sent some as media donations, lol.

i would change the floss when you see a noticable reduction in flow. i wouldnt clean it and reuse it just buy a big bag of floss from lfs and replace every time it starts to clog up. a big bag should cost about £6-7 ish
