Changing Filter, Any Advice?

hi, my current filter is an elite stingray and is getting clogged up all the time and sometimes stops working so im am going to change to a fluval or one like that, but i need some advice of changing it with out causing a crash in my tank

Take the filter material and put it in the new filter.( after cleaning it in tank water) After the new filter has run for 6 to 8 weeks you can remove any exces filter material. You can also run both filters for 6 to 8 weeks and then just remove the old one. Don T.

Just run the new filter along side the old filter for a couple of weeks then take your old filter out.

I have done this in the past to clone a tank without any problems.
