Ok I have a 20g reg. tank cycled for about 2-3 weeks (definetly over 3 by the time I get back from break) so right now it has 5 gold barbs, 3 C. Julii

So the original plan was: 5 pentezona barbs, 3 C. Julii, 6 H. Rasporas, 1 Dwarf Gourami
Pentezonas died after a very tramatic shipment and so were replaced with 5 gold barbs. So new plan was: 5 gold barbs, 3 C. Julii, 6 H. Rasporas, 1 Dwarf Gourami

I really liked the Pentezonas though (such beautiful fish and tight schoolers (very unlike my gold barbs) so now I'm thinking: 5 gold barbs, 3 C. Julii, 5(6) Pentezona Barbs, 1 dwarf Gourami.

Can it be done? will two different types of barbs be compatiable in a 20 gallon tank? Will these fish get two big for a 20 gallon (not individually obviously but as a group)? Will the barbs bug the Gourami? Am I asking to many questions? haha ok done

O water looks like this right now: PH: 7.4 Amm:0ppm NitrIte: 0ppm NitAte: 5ppm
and 25% water changes every Tuesday and Thursday, treated with Aquasafe

Filter(s): Penquin 170 and some airpump filter (used for quarintine tank when needed)
Heat: 200w heater (plenty I know but it came with my fishkeepers package (great deal couldn't turn it down))
Food: Shrimp Pellets, Freeze Dried bloodworms, Wardleys Premium Tropical Flakes.
hmmm I think that's all the info you need (o yeah quite nicely planted with artificial plants, and plenty of artifical drift wood/roots (quite pleased with the look being all artifical if I say so myself wish I had a camera to brag with ;) ))

no opinions? anyone.... anyone.... (ferris buellers day off flash back sorry)

That sounds good.

The barbs should stay in their own schools if not merge into one. If there are scuffles, there will be so many barbs that none of the fish will be hurt too bad (might want to invest in a quarantine tank anyways...).

The only problem I see is that if the barbs start to attack the gourami, eh will be unable to fight back well and his fins will be ripped to shreds. :/

A non-fish creature for the bottom, try ghost shrimp. They're nice additions to the tank.

got quarantine under control, so the barbs should do ok then? Just wasn't sure what the deal was with different types of barbs, but if they'll do ok together I might just have to invest in them instead of the rasporas seeing as I'm more into barbs then rasporas.
