HI, my filter Matt is looking a bit worn now, I have 2 in the filter, would it be ok to change one, and squeeze some medium on the new one, without losing any bacteria, then after a few day's the other???? Thanks........

What exactly is in your filter? List everything and we can tell you what can be replaced and what shouldn't be :good:

Hi Fluttermouth, I have ceramic noodles at the bottom of the filter, then a grill, then 2 layers of filter Matt, and at the top a charcoal cartridge, the filter is about 26cm long and 10cm wide,........ Thanks

Ok, you're quite safe to change the filter floss/mat stuff, as you should have plenty of bacteria on your ceramic noodles. Floss doesn't hold that much bacteria anyway.

I don't see much point in squeezing them out or anything like that, just replace one and the other one in a week or two :good:

Thanks for that i will change one tomorrow.....

No worries. Don't feed the fish and do an ammonia/nitrite test, if you can, the next day, to make sure all is well. I do that any time I mess with my filters; it's just a wise precaution :good:
