I would like to get a centrepiece fish to finish off my tank. What does everyone suggest? Something green would be nice, but I'm not fussy.

what the others said, we kinda need more information on your tank before we can recommend anything!

well it does matter what size tank you have and what you are keeping in it , in my 250 litre community tank i have 3 congo tetras as my centre piece they are great fish lovely colour and how a fish should look with scales and teeth about 4 inches quite large good luck in your choice........they are a little skittish when they first go in shaking and jumping about but they soon come out and settle down

I'm looking for a mid-tank fish, everyone else seems to be top or bottom! Any advice would be appreciated.

All the tank and stock information is in my profile.

90lt tank (approx)
6 Neon Tetra
4 Guppies
1 Dwarf Neon Gourami - Male
1 Dalmation Molly - Pregnant *sighs*
1 Bumble Bee Goby - and yes I know the Goby is brackish, but interestingly, in the Brackish Forum there's a pinned topic that says it's fine to keep them in fresh water! So who really knows!

Would a single/pair/triple of Boeseman's Rainbows be appropriate?

Boesmans rainbow fish can be kept in 90 litre aquariums ( but not really that appropiate because of the size that they can eventually become ). Maybe get a shoal of dwarf rainbowfish but I would personally buy a shoal of dwarf Pencilfish ( there are also many other similar, small pencilfish species...

There are two types of Rainbow Fish:
Threadfin Rainbowfish: Size - 4cm (1 1/2 inch)
Dwarf Rainbowfish: Size - 6cm ( 2 1/2 inch)
More appropiate for an aquarium of 90Litres.
I personally think the dwarf rainbowfish is the best of the bunch, active, colourful completely sociable.
Get at lest a pair of these magnificant fish!

Ok, I already have a lot of red and blue with the neon's, and gourami so I'm trying to get away from those sort of colours. I'm kind of leaning toward a green colour, any idea?

Boeseman's Rainbows come in lots of colours. in my lfs they have like 4 tanks next to each other with Red, YEllow Yellow/Green and a blue kinda colour. go to your lfs chek out if they have any green ones. get a trio when i kept them that worked best.

I know a lot of people will cringe at this because you have neons but you may be able to add a nice young angel. I have 2 at the minute sharing with some small silver-tips and they don't bother them in the slightest. I suppose it would depend what the temperament of the angel you buy is like but if you add it in whilst it is small then there is a good chance that when it grows it will treat the neons as tankmates an not FOOD!!!!!

Hmmm thanks, not an angel tho, I really don't think my tanks is big enough for one of them.

How fast do the Boseman grow? We're looking at getting a really big tank for the lounge room when we come back from our holiday, around 6ft.

Perhapas I could keep them in the small tank for a while then transfer them to the big one. I really like the look of those fish.
