why don't you get a peaceful chiclid like a blue ram? best kept in 2s

I had another thread where I suggested a pair of German Blue Rams and got thoroughly abused by everyone for even considering them, due to the other members of my tank!

Personally I think they're absolutely gorgeous and I would LOVE to have a pair, but I'm not up for the abuse I'd cop if I did, given their water preferences, which are outside what I've found to be the happy medium for the current occupants (except for the neon's which would be happier in the same environment as the Rams!)

So having said all that, I still don't know what to get!

Pitty I can't have a Betta in there, one of them would look lovely, but I couldn't bring myself to put him in one of those Betta prisons, they're just too small, and I don't have the ability to build anything, and even if I did it still wouldn't be the same as having swimming around amongst the fish and the plants.

There must be something I can get to finish off with, that's not red or blue or red & blue or really tiny.

oh, oh, oh what about a single/pair/triple of Lake Kutubu Rainbow Fish - Melanotaemia lacustris - They're a bit smaller than the Bosemans and their needs fit within my tanks parameters. The web site doesn't say whether they can be alone or if you need to have a pair/school.
