Am I the only one here? why are their no societies/associations/auctions round here? it annoys me when others who live out in the sticks benefit from such things, but when I live in the mad house that is london, I get left out!

Is everyone else souf ov tha riva? Not norf? I'm in Camden.

I'm East Lundin maytee  There aren't any societies round your way AFAIK. There's one in Ilford, Essex I think but I haven't investigated that yet. I'll have to research this methinks.

What are your fave LFS then? I have Wholesale Tropicals near me that I adore ^_^

Wholesale Tropicals is one I haven't made it to! I do like Wildwoods for the oddballs and the Aquatic Design Centre on Great Portland Street - good inverts that don't involve sitting in traffic to get to Enfield hehe. I also occasionally pop into Maidenhead Aquatics in Mill Hill and the one round the corner from Wildwoods.

Maybe this is a gap in the market, maybe old norf/norf east/norf west lundin needs a fish club/society!

Yup I agree London needs a fish club! Its a few miles from London but St Albans MA is an excellent shop.

I used to live near Bermondsey. But I don't anymore I'm down on the South Coast now. I liked Aquatic design centre, there is also King Fin in Bermondsey who I liked, and Tachbrook Tropicals in Victoria (great for oddballs).

I can vouch for Maidenhead Aquatics

Was there today

I would love to know if theres a fish club local to me.

I have never been to a fishkeeping club but you can guess whats needed.

1. members
2. a place to meet

everything else will come from this.

with it being such a wide area, the place to meet could be controversial! and how far out would it spread? how far east and how far west? there's already a club around the heathrow area, but they pretty much only cover surrey/heathrow.

Where are you in London? Humm a club in Heathrow, what is the name of the club?

I think if you were going to set up a club we should meet at a pub or something in central london... its really hard to organise meetings tho, people dont turn up n stuff.

yep, i'm aware of the being-stood-up issue!
i'm in central London - Camden/Chalk Farm area.

i emailed FBAS to see if they know of any Society's in the area, they didn't have any listed though.

looking on PFK, it seems everywhere but north/central is covered, there's a South London Aquarist Society, Essex is pretty well covered, the one by Heathrow is the Hounslow and District Aquarists' Society, as well as the south coast being well covered also.

oh, there's a West London Reef Club - not much good as I only do freshwater though.

So I think it's this sliver of central london and north london (barnet, islington, maybe enfield) and as far as east goes, the other side of the M25 is pretty well covered by essex clubs and societys, the inner side of the m25 such as hackney, bethnal green and tottenham less so.

at least thats as much as I can find on the web.

Agreed, Anyone been to that Plec specialist in Bethnal Green, really good there...

Where is this ???

I live in Angel Islington BTW. But used to live in Enfield. Must admit I miss wildwoods but Wholesale trops & Aquatic Design Centre make up for it.

Tachbrook Tropicals in Victoria is awfull. Overprcied and looks a mess. Get alot of BS from the staff to. They currentley have a 1ft aro in a tiny tank.......

I've not heard of that plec specialist either, but I don't keep plecs as my tanks are too small.

Are the N.Londoner types on here on facebook? I could start a little group on there, if there's more interest, move it on from there! Good ol'facebook.
