Hello all! Please don't think I am nuts... just know it is true!

I have recently converted a 1950's TV into a 10 gallon aquarium.

To be cute, I have created an aqua scape that represents the Hollywood Hills under water... including the famous Hollywood sign.

Now I am looking for some suggestions on which type of fish I can add to the aquarium to represent a few celebrities from the early television days.

So what I need are suggestions for...

Marilyn Munroe
Bruce Wayne/Batman
Spock and/or Captain Kirk and/or something Star Trek
Alphalfa and/or Buckweat and/or Pete the pup (little rascals)
Jaws the Great White Shark

I am open to any suggestions for these and/or other celebrity alternatives. Keep in mind this is an OLD TV so the celebs should be dated as well! The fish will need to co-exist in the same tank and I know at 10 gallons I likely can't have them all, but looking for nice combinations.

Cheers, Greg

Photo of the tank or it didn't happen!..

Cheers

It's still in progress... and pieces at the moment. Be glad to show it off when it is done.

So, when you say 'I have recently converted an old TV' and 'To be cute, I have created an aqua scape that represents the Hollywood Hills...' etc you mean you haven't?!

Just so I'm clear as it may influence my suggestions for fish...

Cheers

No, what I mean is it is not 100% complete. Why do you have to be that way?

Honestly I didn't think it should influence anyone's opinion on what fish should represent which celibrity.

What a brilliant and creative Idea! I'm going to have a think about possible celebrity fish and I'll get back to you if I come up with anything!

That is very nice and I apologise but having been stung so many times in the past I just had to make sure.

you're right though 10 gal isn't huge, are you looking for a fish to represnt each of the names you list or just some or are they just examples.

I think the biggest problem I can see at the moment is that a lot of fish like to be kept in shoals and thinking of 4 or 5 fish that a) will fit and b) co-habit could be challenging.

I am flexible with the number of fish.

I have thought of doing 3 to 5 fish?

If I could find the right guppy to represent 5 different celebs that would work or 4 different fish that can live without others of their own kind is fine too.

One thought so far is...

Spock/Kirk -Guppies (One Blue/ One Yellow or Orange)
Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami (Bruce Wayne/Batman)
White Betta could be Marilyn Monroe
Alphie could be a swordtail

That would be 5 fish... but how many might Marilyn devour?

Marilyn and batman could be an issue. Not good to keep gouramis and bettas together. Similar species and can end up trying to kill one another.

Same with guppies and bettas. The betta sees those long flowing fins and thinks 'mini betta'. Lets kill it to be on the safe side...

Any suggestions for a Marilyn would be helpful... Seems like she is the problem at the moment. Could be a white or red fish but needs a little flare (fins) to pull it off!

Would any of these seem like good options for a Marilyn Monroe fish?

Red Female Betta (I believe the females don't attack like the males?)
Red Topsail/High Fin Platty
American Flag Fish
Scarlet Gem Badis

males and females will not go good together unless they are breeding.
a scarlet badis would be good i think

I would drop the idea of guppies as the fighter would look great!

I would have:

1 x fighter (white or creamy yellow)
2 x Platies (black/green and orange?)

Other fish etc that would go nicely:

Shrimp (numbers not a problem)
Snails (numbers not a problem)
Honey Gouramis (yellow and/or red - at least a pair)
Khuli Loach (at least a pair)
Pygmy Cories (at least a trio)

All the other tetras and rasbora etc that you could get... you really would need a larger group of six or so...

loaches are schooling fish, they will not be happy in a pair, niether will pygmy corys in a trio. they pygmys would survive but not thrive. also some fighter fish will eat, harrass, and bite off body parts of shrimp. and as mentioned above gouramis and bettas will not do good together

edit: snails(number not a problem) sorry but that is not true, unlike other invertebrates snails poop alot, it may be smaal, but it is alot. also they multiply FAST
