so we recently moved into a new home, and my sister just moved in with her 2 cats on top of my 2.. i have down graded to just one tank and my bettas. im not worried about the bettas due to the fact they all have secure lids, but its my 15 gallon that concerns me. when i lived with my sister over a year ago the only cat to bother my fish was her cat bob. i have watched all of the cats sit and watch my tanks 3 of which run away when you get them too close, but bob would get up on top of my tank and reach right in while we were in the room(always caught before he got anything). after just a little while i would wake up go to feed the fish and 2-3(guppies) would be missing, and one day i watched him pull get on my desk and pull my favorite gold fish out of the bucket(while i had my 30 gallon in hand) when i was forced to move it. which at the time my sister was supposed to watch him. so now i fear for my fish yet again. iv tried to put screen over the opening, but he went right through. does anyone have any suggestions on how to cat proof the tank??

put some netting over the top so the cat cant get it's paws into the water? :good:

maybe just place a piece of perspex/acrtlic /plastic over the top if it has a ledge 2 hold it that is :P

Get piece of cheap styrene light diffuser panel, the type used for fluorescent lights in a suspended ceiling. Get the cheapest kind, the better kind will warp. Cut it to size for the opening with a razor knife, you can also cut notches for any filters or other hardware.

As you're in the states, I'm going to suggest an old national favourite:

A gun.

(Really not a cat person ;) )

ooh.
i have two cats.. and 1 tank on a stand and one smaller tank at the bottom of the stand.
they go behind it and stare at it a bit but they don't even try to get the fish :)
umm. outside we have coldwater fish. there in a like.. a pond. my cats used to get them with their calws. but ages ago we bought this wire thing. like its got little squares in it and they can't fit their paw through. that stopped them,
but i dont know about tankss though.
sorry i can't help.
