well i decided that i am not going to use sand but instead cat litter as i like the look more and it being not sharp like gravel i can still get corys if i please problem is i am not sure how much to get i used a little short of 50kg of the gravel that is currently in my tank but when looking at tesco cat litter it lists it as 10 litres so not sure how much i am going to need for a 4,2,2 (ft) tank

At least 20 liters. I used that much for just an inch of substrate in my 110 liter tank. Maybe it'd be cheaper to go with some 20kg sand bags?

I would say 3-4 bags but a extra one can't hurt, I used about 4 bags for my Trigon 350 then switched to a rio 300 and transferred it over and still had a 10litre bucket left over from the trigon, the rio is not far off being 4x2x2.

I would recommend the Tesco stuff over the pets at home due to it being smaller grains.

I think i used 4 bags in my 5 foot by 18" tank. Tesco low dust stuff though. Took a lot of cleaning but looks ace.

well i find even gravel takes alot of cleaning anyway

I'd agree with the 4-5 bags. Should give you good cover.
