USA,
Can anyone tell me a little about Synodontis eupterus? I just got one today. It will be going in my 75/55 gallon tank soon. We, as my brother, mother, and myself think the 75 is a better price, but my dad thinks the 55 is. He may be right though, as the filters seem to be more at the store than the internet. But Petsmart price matches right?

Well anyways, it is in my 29 gallon tank for now. There are 2 pleco, that will also be going to the 75, and 3 corries on the bottem which will be going to the 20 gallon as we are closing the 29 for good. Will the corries be okay with it? It is still small, maybe two inches? It pocked a hole in the bag though with its pin like think on its dorsal fin. Will it use that on the other fish? And will this be good with cichlids?

Also, does anyone have any info on Eclipse Catfish?

These synos can reach a length of about 8" and are slightly terriorial. Mine frequently defends his spot from my leopard bushfish, but he usually just shoves them out with his forehead :p They are pretty cool looking and aren't picky, good luck

Lol Thats sounds cool. I cant wait till mine gets that size. I hear they grow fast.

Synodontis Eupterus, also known as the feather fin catfish, largely nocturnal as it has extremely large eyes, but soom becomes accoustomed to certain feeding times so becomes active around this time.
This fish has a habit like all synodontids of hanging upside down from tank decor, they are largely inoffensive creatures, which chase away rivals rather than harm them.
Females get larger than males, adopting a long missile shape, also they lose their stripes for spots. Males are shorter and stockier, retaining their gorgeious dorsal fin, where females' become rounded and resemble a normal dorsal.
These cats grow fast and can be fed on bloodworm, prawn, algae tabs and protein pellets......

Hope this helps

that helps alot. today it was upside down swimming from leaf to leaf of the anubis. it was quite cute.

also, do any of you know about the eclipse catfish, no idea at all what its scientific name is. I just hope its not one of the big ones.

Wrs im not entirely familiar with common names, but a brief description may help, and possibly narrowing it down to a familly like synodontis, pimolidae etc, would be a massive help

well lets see. Its yellowish. Has a black spot on its head area tha has a pink outline. Has a black outline on the tail, and has a greyish back. It is quite shy, and has the body shape of the larger cats, like the columbian catfish.

sounds kind of like a mystus for commonly known as pyjama cat if you look up this common name on planet catfish you should find in.

sorry can't be arsed to post links right now off to bed!

I believe it is a Mystus bimaculatus! Thanks for the family name Paul, or I would have never found it.
