I have a fish in the store where I work that has been delivered in a group of 6 but as of yet I cant work out what it is.

If pushed to give a name I would have said an Oto, it has pretty much the same markings as an oto and is basically the same shape, Has a large eye for its size but it has 4 barbels that I dont see in the oto pictures and I dont recall it having the sucker like mouth.

They are acting like our glass cat fish do, ie hanging in a group it the water not hiding or being bottom feeder like

Does this sound like a oto? Any other ideas what it can be

Well They don't sound like ottos. Otto are essentially small, thin plecs and act the same too.

These sound more like chinese algae eaters- except for the hanging around in midwater in groups.

Perhaps a false glasscat? Kryptopterus macrocephalus- does this look familiar?

If you can't get a photo, perhaps you could do a simple drawing?

I found a name supposedly for this fish, it was a name beginning with peng or something like that. I cant find out any info for it anywhere though
