The signs are there, but she looks very young... They tend to get black when they are "ripe"...... But, I believe she's ready for a compatible male.

This is an Auratus. correct? She looks like she is either bloated or has eggs. What size tank are they in? A male will easily COMPLETELY DOMINATE a 55g tank. Auratus are very agressive fish. The males are all black.

Yes, it is a Melanochromis Auratus, and this is a 29 gallon tank.

I will be setting up my 55 here soon in a couple of weeks.
