What started out being a mbuna tank has become a Victoria tank, I just love the Haplochromis species. I am going to get Fryeri, Obliquidens, Brownae and Livingstoni but I believe some are Carnivorous/insectivorous and some Herbivorous. Will this be a problem when feeding?

Mark.

The main limitaion will be compatibility and size( I'd expect the livingtoni to get huge like a venustus so 125gallon tank), if some of the others can handle the mbuna, a general cichlid flake as a staple should sustain all well with, suplement foods can be easier directed at fish. Try an eyedropper. But frozen krill to suplement the carnivores, is a good idea, and if the herbivores and insectivores get at it a little nothing to worry about it's healthy in small amounts for them as well, same with veggies and spirulina suplements. Simply feed a well rounded staple with meatier suplements directed at the carnivores and the plant supplements directed at the herbivores, I wouldn't do anything special for the insectivores let them get at whatever they want

The livingstoni will be huge and very agressive and might feed on small mbuna's so I would get it if your tank is smaller that 150 gallon.....Mixing fish from different lakes are fine as long as you get the right combo of species....in terms of diet you can feed pretty much all cichlids with prepared foods and they will eat it, just make sure to feed them some meaty foods once or twice a week...I have a mix tank and all my fish eats what I put in the tank.....
