so im fairly certian i found one in lfs ( and now i see him every day in my tank) but im not sure i can have a photo in a bit

WOW which shop had that then, i would be very interested to see one of those for real. we need photos :)

Not a great picture, but here are some specimens I came across a few weeks ago at Wildwoods, Enfield. That's perhaps the best place in the London area for oddball puffers. They usually have a nice selection in the small single specimen tanks where they keep the snakeheads and the bettas. I've seen the odd specimen for sale in some branches of Maidenhead Aquatics as well.

They're very different to Carinotetraodon irrubesco, which seems to be the most common red-tail puffer in the trade at the moment. This species is seemingly very peaceful, and my fish live in a community setting harmlessly enough, and have done for a couple of years now. But by all accounts Carinotetraodon salivator is aggressively territorial and the males at least quite nasty towards the females as well as each other.

I kept a couple of these, and I'd describe them as super aggressive. Cancel the idea of keeping a pair, keep just one specimen if you can. I've kept all kinds of puffers, and I rate these among the most aggressive.

Ive kept both males and females of this species of Puffer, and id agree with Fella, my Male was super aggressive towards anything else. I tried to float a Plec in a platic tub in the puffer tank and the Male was literally trying to bite through the tub to get to the Plec. The male i kept even bit me on more than one occasion, so beware.....

I can get images of my old male when i get home from work.
