It would seem apparent that the fry I rescued last night is the only one, I've tried turning off all the lights and shining a torch into the tank but no more have a appeared, I'll have a look later as they may really be hiding very well. as I have this one separated, what can I feed hiim? I've given him a bit of finely crushed flakes, and I mean a bit! Just 1 flake is about twice the size of him. Is there anything else I can give him, bearing in mind I can't really get to the lfs until the weekend. I have some of those frozen blocks of bloodworms in the fridge. And how much space should he have?

Cheers,

Jay.

You might be better off putting him back in the tank if you have plenty of hiding spaces and plants, crushed flakes are fine for now, you will need some baby brime strimp.

I've just bought some baby brime shrimp eggs on ebay try them out when I get them. Do you know what temp would be best to have the tank? it's at 25.5 degrees C at the moment. I was thinking about letting hin out but the only thing is that I've got a lobster and I'm worried he'll get eaten.

you don't NEED baby brine shrimp, i raised fry without them before. crush the flakes a finely as pos, you can also buy fry food at your LFS, don't get liquifry as it masses the tank up to much. I think tetra do a powdered fry food.

If I remember right you trap is quite large, he/she shore be fine in there until it big anothe to fend for itself. :D

I think he'll be fine on flakes as well. BBS are good, but it will be hard to set up a hatchery for a single fry. Some lfs's sell frozen BBS and you could thaw a bit of that in tank water and feed with a dropper if you're looking for something a bit meatier

If you have live plants, throw some in with the fry. They like to snack on the tasty phytoplanktons and creatures that are around the plants. If not, then you could also try egg yolk. Algea scrapings might also work. I've also fed some shake from crushed up freeze-dried brine shrimp and then, of course, pulverized flakes. The 2 little guppy fry (I call them rosencranz and guildenstern) are doing alright and have grown well in the past month. -- I keep them in a five gallon bucket with plants and about 3 gallons of water so the water parameters remain fairly constant.

He just never really seems that interested in the flakes, they are deffinatly small enough I got hold a pestle and mortar, that ground the flakes in to a fine powder, quite suprised really! He just sits on the bottom, it's so hard caring for just one, I touch the tip of my finger in to the powder and droped it in and in near enough covers the frys tank. I can't really get a whole plant in there, what about a cutting or a leaf? Also I don't really have any algae as yet. Any other suggestions?

Thanks everyone so far.

Jay.
