Right now im not too sure what kind of fish i should get for my 50 gallon, But I have been thinking of discus.

I think they are extremely beautiful and majestic fish, But i have also heard that they are really hard to care for, and require extremely high maintainence, which may not be good for a beginner such as myself.

So where could i find more information about raising discus and how they really compare to keeping other fish.

I also have thought about Discus and have been doing some research. There is a lot of good information out there just google Discus. Most people who keep them have only Discus in that tank, it needs to be large as the fish get large they like warmer temps than most tropicals and they require frequent water changes. If you are going to do it make sure you study up first. Scott

if you want to keep Discus make sure you find as much info as you can.
Read read and read!

If you are after something beautiful and majestic, but less demanding and more suitable for for a 55 gallon tank, how about a group of pearl gouramis- 1 male and a little harem of females? Smaller than discus (and cheaper) but still very nice.

I do have an RO system.... 100GPD, and its tricked out :)

water is prefiltered by a UV sterilizer before hitting the booster pump, then its 120PSI into the RO filter.....
at least as soon as i buy the pump and some fittings anyway :)

fully moniterd pressure and TDS.... why? because im eccentric :D

anyway, that aside, ive never seen gouramis, so i couldnt say.
but failing discus (IE not a beginner fish... im well aware of this, and i wouldnt keep them if it wasnt going to be a good envrionment for them... id want them to be happy) i think i will just keep some basic tropicals in there, maybe a few angels, and a betta or something.... ive kept them in the past.

im unsure of my fish choices as of yet.... plants will come first.

A good one.... i just havent spent alot of time there looking at fish.

Thus far its all been equipment.... i dont wander into the fish area unless im going to buy something..... because my tank isnt quite ready yet, and my impulses would have me buy fish before im ready :)
