I found myself becoming rather obsessed with watching Digweed, the Discus. So I have taken a couple of photos of my Cardinals, which has suitably re-kindled my respect for these beautiful little fish.

I'm also very happy with my plants, hardly a trace of any algae - even green spot. A testiment to ideal lighting and nutrient levels. The Sagattaria in the foregorund is spreading like mad, I've just removed about 15 plantlets - I might have to start selling them off to my LFS! I'm going to let the Sag spread all over the substrate to see what it will look like - left to right and front to rear. I know I will be thinning out many plantlets every week but it is a simple process, just pulling out each plant and snipping off the runners with a sharp pair of scissors, the whole process only takes a few minutes.

These photos were taken about an hour after a 50% water change which explains Digweed's somewhat sullen pose in the right corner! He's fine now and is slowly adjusting to taking dry-foods (Diskusin), he's lovin' the frozen brineshrimp (omega-3 enriched) too. I was a little nervous about as this is the first water change since buying Digweed. I was careful to match temperatures and I poured my new water in relatively slowly. He was fine though, just stayed in the corner you can see for about 2 hours then did his normal routine of swimming about, ruling the tank.

Ahhh they are beautiful ! I want a tank like yours (jealous!)

Amazing, gf225!!!

I don't think I've ever seen a better Java fern than your's.

Did you grow the Crinum (?) from a bulb, if so, how long do they take to sprout? :dunno:

Thanks. The Java fern is about 18 months old, the only plant to survive my constant re-aquascaping. It is so low-maintenance too, a great plant in all aspects.

The Crinum calamistratums (there's two) were bought with about 5 leaves, 4 inches long coming from the bulbs. Cheap too at only £2 each. I've heard of them being sold at £16 each before!

gorgeous cardinals and digweed:)

Are your yellow rams gone? Have I missed something?

Is the Crinum calamistratums the plant on the right. We had a better look of it in one of your digweed photos. Interesting plant.

That is the clearest looking tank I have ever saw. That is awsome.

Thanks. It's amazing what a black background and substrate can do - it's all about the contrast.
