Will cardinal tetras (shoal of 10-12) be happy in medium hard water, pH 7.6? Thanks.

Well I cant say if they will be happy but I keep around 30 in my tank and the water is hard and PH is over 8!!

Not had any deaths for a while and they are very bright in color so cant be too sad :good:

I second that, my PH is 7.8 consistently and I keep cardinals without a problem. I buy stock locally so should have similar water parameters, but I always acclimatise my fish for a while just to be on safe side.

Thanks; 2 out of 2 is reassuring. My wife loves them, so will probably get 10-12 for my new 100 litre when it's finished cycling.

I had 10 when i finished cycling my 115L...although i read alot at the time that they do seem to prefer a slightly older, more mature tank, they have thrived... and i live in very soft water, having to add crushed coral to keep my PH at a stable 7-8ppm.
Best of luck with them though, they are a great choice and one which will no doubt bring you joy :good:

Terry.

Thanks Terry; I also read that they thrive best in a well established tank, so thinking I'll slowly stock over a couple of months with the skirts and corys first.
