I just picked up some cardinal tetras (10) for my 75 gallon tank.  I plan on adding more possibly but also some corys.  I would like a community take with different kind of fish.  The manager at this fish shop suggested some large Mollies they have (among other suggestions).  Had anyone had experience with these fish together?  Compatibility charts say no to Mollies.

Anyone?

I have a tetra tank with Cardinals, Serpae, Neons etc. I tried to introduce a couple of mollies but they chased the smaller fish and nipped there fins so I got rid of the mollies. I'm not saying you will have the same problem but I won't have them again.

Thank you for your responses.  I wondered about the big size difference.  I'm trying to put a variety of peaceful fish together.  I have small and would like some bigger ones that I don't need a lot of.  I'll keep researching.

it usually depends on the fish. many say that you cant have guppies with bettas, but some people do it.

I'm more concerned about keeping them under the same water hardness. Cardinals usually thrive better with soft/acidic water as mollies do with hard/alkaline water. But other than that i think balloon mollies would be better than your standard molly since they usually stay shorter

Thank you for your responses.  I'm early in the stocking phase, so I appreciate all the information!

How about some Ram Cichlids? The Bolivian Ram is a little hardier than the German Blue Ram.

Some Otocinclus in 6 months time, when your tank has matured enough and built up enough biofilm for the otos to feed on, and the tank having stabilized?

Hatchetfish? Black Phantom Tetras?

You mean cichlids would not eat the tetras? Thanks! I looked them up.

Ram Cichlids are quite peaceful, the only time you may need to keep an eye on them is if they've layed eggs! :)
