- iv got a cardinal and he seems to have like a bump on his stomach. It isn't a gradual smooth slope but its got a little abnormal bump, not of an odd color. And he's also got a jaw that seems to have grown so that his mouth is large and he is breathing pretty fast. His jaw doesn't taper off on the bottom like the tip of a pencil it is more squared and he is opening and closing his mouth a lot and fast.

he hasn't lost any color and is eating and socializing fast. I'll try to post a pic when my dad gets home with the camera. Should i just kill him?, separate him?

thanks for the help

I would issolate him as he dosnt sound right, lump and bump can mean a number of things, but if he's heavy breathing he's on his way out sorry.
Can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, how many gallons or litres is the tank, plus full stock list of fish in the tank.

thanks for the reply, and sorry for a false alarm.

He was just munching on a big piece of brine shrimp i think because he seemed fine an hour later. That would explain why his jaw seemed disjointed. I just treated with salt anyways just in case a parasite.

thanks (close this thread please)
