I ordered a Tetratec EX700 from Seapets last Wednesday evening. Being that they are based in Germany, and that they said their postage takes 5 - 10 working days, I was most shocked to have it arrive on my door step at 6.50am this morning! (Glad I was getting up early for work!) Unfortunately I had to leave for work at 7am... Just enough time to open it up and take a look. Quite impressed with what I've seen so far. Itching to get it set up tonight! Mind,

One querey though... The ceramic/bio filtering seems to be at the bottom, before the mechanical filtering. This just seems odd to me. Have I miss-read this?

the bio media in my filter is at the top...just before the water gets put into the pump...as far as i know its suppose to go there as the water has been well cleaned before reaching it.

I got home and had a chance to re-read the manual properly. The ceramic media I mentioned is actually mechanical filtration, so indeed does sit at the bottom. There are some plastic bio-balls for biological filtration :)

I got it all setup this evening and plugged it all in. 2 quick squeezes of the auto start and it was filling up. Switched it on after it seemed to have finished syphoning and after it spat out some more air it started working! And its seemingly very quiet (though its in the tank cabinet). All I can here are the 2 internal filters running!

So far its a big thumbs up for the Tetratec EX700 :good:

The Tetratecs are fabulous things, Dev. You won't regret it. Have you left the carbon bag in?. I took mine out and bought another black biofilter sponge. The white fine filter in the top basket tends to go rather quickly - I replace mine every two months, but they're only £4 for a box of two. You won't need to clean the filter for at least a couple of months; externals take some getting used to in that respect. You only really need to clean it when you notice the return flow rate is dropping.
