Can't Type #8 W/o Getting A Smile

I have noticed that many times when people type #8 like:
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)

.......
and they come to 8 it comes out as 8)
Is there a way to correct it or is that something we have to deal with?
Just a suggestion

It's easy, just type a space before the 8 and the ), so it would be

8 )

instead of

8)

Alternatively use BBCode to make a proper ordered list.

1. Item one
2. Second thing
3. Another one
4. And again
5. keep going
6. And so on
7. And so on
8. etc...

Like this...

I like how #8 is a cool smilie. Next time I have a list that goes to 8, I'll make sure that #8 is cool. ... Why are there Saddam and Osama smilies, though? Are there a demand for them; have they ever been used? They are kinda cute despite what they represent. ... Nevermind me, I've been doing this...

Testing of smilies I never have seen used...
