Cant Lower The Temperature

Ive been trying to aim for 25c but cant get it lower than 28/30c (82/84f). Ive even set the themometer to 22 but its still wont drop! the room temperature averages around 24c at any given time.
What can i do to lower it?

Turn off the heater. You'll wind up with water just a smidgen higher than 24C, which is close enough to 25.

ive found another temp gauge which shows it to be in the 'green' section between 2 red ones so will keep an eye on it. if i have it turned down to 22 then surely its the same effect of turning it off? will see how it goes anyway, thanks for the advice

There's always the risk that the heater is putting out residual heat--or the temperature gauge might be inaccurate.

Really, if you want the tank to be just a degree or so above the air temperature, then you're better off just removing the heater altogether. Lights alone can be sufficient to push the temperature up "just enough"

You wont get it cooler than the room ! I guess you also have lights on ? They generate heat.... try again in the middle of the night.
