I usually buy my aquaruim fish online but I have tried experimenting with purchasing them from pet stores as I can't spend money on shipping every time I order. Anyway. I ordered 3 dwarf neon rainbows a while back from online and they are gorgeous. Perfect color and body shape. Perfect, textbook.
I picked up 8 Dwarf neon rainbows, put 4 in my 45 gallon and 4 in my 20 gallon. The four have gotten ich and spread it to everyone so I tried a national geographic Natural remedy thing. It worked and got rid of the ich on the other fish. Oh I also cranked up my temp really high. So far everyone is cleared of ich except all the rainbowfish. I took them out and put them in a 10 gallon with a couple guppies. The tank is empty with just sand, and a couple spawning mops. I added some aquaruim salt, as well as an unnatural remedy, one of those blue fizzy tabs.
Are rainbowfish prone to these sicknesses? Is my tank too small? (stocking info below)
Or is it just that my tank is overcrowded?
My tank is heavily planted, all the pH, ammonia, nitrates/ites are all normal. pH is 7.4-7.8. I have 7 Threadfin rainbows, 6 Dwarf neon rainbows, 3 guppy endler babies, 2 juvenile german blue rams, lots of RCS, 2 blue mystery snails and an albino BN pleco.
I know its overstocked... but its super super heavily planted. Plants everywhere.
How can I clear up the ich on the dwarf neons? How can I prevent it? THanks
