So the other day I bought a new CT betta to add to my cycled 10gal. Well he was getting along great...until yesterday...he decided to venture out of the tank, I'm still not sure how he got out, I'm thinking it was right by the filter bc that is the only hole in the lid to escape, well yesterday I come home and as usual I walk over to the tank to check in on my new baby and to my surprise I couldn't find him! I even took a flashlight and checked all over the log that he likes to rest in, couldn't find him anywhere! So I look behind the shelf and to my surprise there he was! At first I thought he was no more so I get my net to scoop him up and he moves!!!! Couldn't believe it! So I rush and get the bowel that he came in and scoop some tank water into it and watch for a few tense minutes as he slowly starts coming back to life! I put him in there so he wouldn't have to struggle to the top of the tank to breathe and I put a few flakes in there for him to eat to get his strength up again. Today he is back in his tank and doing just fine! He is a little survivor! He is a little shy now and I'm wondering if that is normal considering what he just went through, I hope he starts coming back to the glass when I check in on him, I don't want him being a scared little betta bc he is just beautiful and I love looking at him! But as soon as I walk over to the tank he swims to the back or into his log....I guess all I can do is pray that he breaks back out of his shell...

Putting him the bowl so he had minimal distance to get to the surface sounds like just the right thing to do. I'm sure it's the stress that's made him shy.

Glad he's ok.

thanks, I hope he starts coming back around, I'm sure he is still a little stressed, he doesn't like the tank light on, it makes him hide in his log, which his eyes may be hurting from being on the dry floor for i don't know how long...he may be a bit sensitive to the light and all, IDK i am just glad he is ok, it scared me to death!

Its good that he survived! Could have been worse. He could have ventured to the Betta tank next door like mine did lol

Glad he's ok!
I have never had a Betta jump out of the tank, but I have had one jump the divider - even with a lid on.
I was surprised that they could jump through such a small gap...

yea, surprised me too! I've only had one other betta do that and needless to say I didn't reach him in time... but I'm amazed at how tough the little guy is! Although he still hasn't ventured out of his log...I hope he comes out soon!

give him 3-4 days. that is about how long it took for Ice to come out of his depression after his "adventure"

ok, thank you for the advice, I was worried he would never come out of it...

he will. just keep an eye out for white spot as both of them are likely stressed, leaving them prone to it. With good feeding and clean water, they should get back to their normal selves in no time :) Ice is building me huge bubble nests now :)

awww...that is sooo cute! I've treated for any kind of parasite or fungus bc he was on the floor kind of under the shelf that his tank is sitting on so he was a little dusty so I treated his tank just as a precaution...

other than the stress of his "adventure", the meds might be making him a bit lethargic on top of it. So hopefully when the round is up and you do a nice BIG waterchange, he will be back to his old self. Im sure he will be fine tho.
Id keep the lights off and traffic around the tank to a minimum for a few days until he gets over it. Probably feeling a bit under the weather from his escapade.
all the best
cheers

he was swimming around more today! Still hiding from me but he finally left his pirate ship and ventured out into the tank for a good 20 mins. Unfortunately my other betta passed away...I'm very upset about it, he was my favorite and was very outgoing, loved swimming around all the time and enjoyed the company of my other fish...he will be missed....

it'll be ok, not the first betta i've lost and probably not the last, but i'll never forget his outgoing personality... :rip:
