Anyone got any views on the Canon EOS 1000D 10MP Digital SLR Camera

I got my self a 550D and it's amazing.

I think buying any canon you cant go far wrong.
If it's for fish then save up for a good 100mm macro, start from £300 but it will work perfectly on fish then.

Always goto a shop first and try a couple of other brands and look at them menu systems as some are hard to follow.

Pretty much decided on this Helter.
The 550D is a step up again and I want to get the 50mm Macro lens as well.
This will be adequate for me as the 100mm is a tad more dosh.
Even the old EOS 350D 8mp camera body would do

I have recently upgraded from the 350D to the 500D and tbh apart from the extra 2 mp the 1000D isn't really any better than the 350D IMO, And with the 350D now available at around £150 or less in some cases (second hand) You could use the cash saved to buy even better lenses

The canon 100mm is pricey but there are alternatives such as the Sigma 105mm or the Tamron 90mm or Tokina 100mm that you could consider

Heres a site i use when i'm looking to compare lenses

Also check ebay, loads of stuff on there and your notice lenses keep their money very well.
