Cannister Filter Problem Help! Urgent

uhh well i got a canister filter today and its my first time having one but im having a little problem. u know how the water moves through the tube well to go to the input and out put? well my one is half way there and it dosent go any further than that. how can i fix this? help me

the model is Aqua One Aquis 500 help~

Do you mean the return water pipe ?

If so, then do you mean the water is only making it half way to the tank ? This is then a head problem, the filter should have a enough head to push the water back into the tank.

Could this maybe be a air leak ? Check for leaks in the filter, and make sure its sealed

the water is making half way thru the pipes just where it bends to go down into the filter input. and thanx 4 da reply

Maybe this is a priming problem and the cannister hasn't fully filled up with water?

im sure i put enough water in there. hmm is it a good idea to pour water in while its going lol

Im not sure if your really meant to but i just filled my canister with water then start to prime when i have been pumping for a minute i turn the power on. I did this on a fluval external.

There is a little thing that gets the water flowing that you pump up and down???

Priming is getting the filter to full up with water, then it can start running

what!! there is? are u sure the brand Aqua one has it . ill go and chekc if i have a pump on the filter lol i never knew

Not all cannister filters will have a primer, but most of the latest ones will have one

did you not get a manual with the filter? I had an aqua one before my eheim and all I think I did was fill it with water..then I can't remember.

No you're right LOL wasn't much help was it. I've been racking my brains but I think thats all we did then start the pump and it stopped halfway up the pipe and all I did was keep starting and stopping it and eventually it went all the way round.

they can be a total pain in the backside, I,m not familiar with your filter but a sure way of getting it running is to suck on the end untill the water is flowing, it will flow better when all the air has expelled.
