Complete beginner here, I've just recently bought a fluval 107. How much noise am i expected from it? i know it's not going to be completely silent. I've already swapped one thinking it was faulty. So i'm starting to think that its probably normal to expect some noise like a slight hum.

The canister is self is store underneath the tank in a oak cupboard system

Any help or advice would be great.

I dont think you will get a filter whats deadly quiet. I can hear my fluval 405 canister which is in a cupboard like yours when there is no background noise. Dont really notice it if say the tv is on. But you will get a hum of it

Thanks glad im not completely overthinking it. You got any tips to slightly dampen down the noise?

Not really other than try and put the filter on some rubber mating or a towel to minimise vibration. Some people have tried making a sound box out of mdf to fit over their canisters and filled it with acoustic foam to sound proof it somewhat. Not sure if they worked or not tho.

I find air pumps worse o_O
