Can You Sex These Jewels Please?

Can you please sex these two Jewels, the one on the bottom of the picture is smaller and brighter red, but the one on the top has more of them 'Spots'

Wow!... Youngfisher... did you actually go and count the spots???... (lol)..... The most telling feature is that the male has larger "jewels" on the gill plate, and then when you look closely, the jewels in the tailfin extend further (to the edge of the tail) and form themselves into a crescent.

Jewels are beautiful fish but unfortunately their personality only caters for specialized keeping.... they can be a nuisance.

BTW.... I don't know if it the way I receive your photographs, but I think they will display better if you resize them.... On my system I have to scroll left & right & up & down to see your full pic. - just a suggestion.

I would say top one is male and lower is female
The males dorsal fin flows over the tail more than female

Males tend to be more colorful, especially as adults.

my male and female are both bright red just now,just about ready to spawn again,my last lot of jewel fry is growing fast
