i think they're both male, but i have reason to think one is a female. I was told and heard on other sites that blue strand has the same markings as the males but much less visible. That just happens to be the case for me, i'm hoping i have a pair... they seem to like each other a lot.

i think that one might be a female... but looks to similar to the male body and everything like that

almost 100% positive this is a male

both are male. Males have a pointy corner to their anal and dorsla fins whereas females have a round corner

i figured as much
i just got them yesterday and the lady had no clue so i just got the 2 i liked the best.
figured it doesn't have to be a pair, but it would be cool.

yes they do need to be in pairs (1 male 1 female) because the males are aggressive towards eachother

The images are colour morphs of the Dwarf Gourami (Colisa lalia)
They are both male.
A search on Google will provide you with an image of what a female of this species should look like.
Although I must say that adding a female at this stage may cause problems, so its maybe best if you stick with your existing setup (if your happy with it) or swap one male out.

Females have a silverish colour with only very faint blue or orange if any at all. Dwarf gouramis should NOT be kept in pairs as the male will harrass the female too much. It is better to have a trio, 2 f, 1 male.

You can keep 2 males (or more) in your tank provided the tank is big enough with sufficient hiding places so each can establish their own territory. We normally consider 30 litres (10 gallon)/fish for this.
