Can You Keep A Fire Mouth With A Black Knife

in your 12.5 g???

neither of those fish should be in a 12.5 g tank.

however even in a bigger tank (and i mean 100g that the knife fish is eventually going to need) it's still risky, BGK's get very very big and need to be kept with other big fish.

excuse me, if you know you are overcrowded (and you are not "slightly but grossly overcrowded) why would you want to add MORE fish. if the black knifefish is the african knifefish thats one of the smaller ones but will still reach 12". you've been on this site for nearly a year and you are in this really bad situation i don't understand it

so could i have a fire mouth with the black knife because one of the staff in my lfs said
you cant but im not sure after all the wrong advice they have gave me.
i probably wont get a fire mouth but i just want to know can you keep them.
thanks

i wouldn't put them in together, and definately not in a 12.5 g tank. and if you know it's 'slightly overcrowded' why are you even thinking about adding more fish.

Wow.... I'm thinking, for the intrests of the fish, to return almost all of them or upgrade to a very large tank..... I know people hate to hear this, but your fish are going to need at least a couple hundred gallons when they grow....

but on the positive side of things, there are lots of people on TFF who would help you get a good stocking plan down and into action, or hook you up with a link for a good deal on another tank!
