Hi guys ,

so i got two of these guys a few months back and they are now about 5-6 inches in size.

my problem is i have no idea of the name of this fish so i was wondering if anyone could advise me.

they seem to be attacking my smaller fish once the lights go out so i'd like to research them a little more.

thank you all in advance for you help ,

its greatly appreciated

K

Hmm, its a chichlid of sorts for sure. I certainly do not know much of these to be honest.

However, if I was to hazard a guess, it could be a Banded Chichlid - Heros severus.

I would type that in on your laptop and see if the pictures you get matches what you have in your tank, and then research if this is a suitable fish to have in your community tank, have an inkling chances are probably not, chichlids are noted for their agression and size.

Though there are likely to be literally hundreds if not thousands of species of chichlids out there.

Thanks a million  Ch4rlie

you are spot on that's he exact guy right there.

yup time to remove this guy from my communal tank !!

Could also be a Heros efasciatus. They are very similar in appearance, but the severus is a mouth-brooder while the efaciatus is not.

I just noticed you have those cichids in with tetras, so moving them out is your best option before you lose your red-eyes.
