hi i am going to buy an external filter with a flowrate of 1000l/h it is recomended 4 a 400 l tank

can i use it in a 100 ltr tank??

will it be ok?

thanks adam

Itll be fine, you can never have too much filtration. I have 100 litre filters on 60 litre tanks and a 400litre filter + a powerhead on a 125 litre tank.

It will be fine as long as the fish dont have to fight the outflow as ive been told many times you can not have to much filtration.

do you think it will create a whirlpool effect???

thanks
adam

that would depend on how you set up the discharge and the intake - I'm sure you could get a whirlpool going if you wanted.

no i dont want a whirlpool

lol

is there any way i can prevent it from doing so?

If the power head is to strong you could always get a slower one.1000lph is quite strong, but nothing that should push fish around, would if they swam infront of it though :p

if the flow is too much, point the spraybar backwards, so it hits the glass, then put the intake on the other side of the tank. That'll keep the overall flow down, but the immediate area around the spraybar will be a bit turbulent. I have some massively overfiltered tanks, and have never had a problem.
