Just a quick question as the title says? My ammo was nearly zero and nitrItes were growing before i dropped a bit of blue into my tank to stop itching and suspected white spot (also had a death for no reason) but since then i placed the carbon into the tank to remove the blue and took the carbon out last night im experiencing a full on bacterial bloom and my nitrItes have gone down to 0 and ammo is going up again..

Just wondering if this is the blue's fault?

Some brands of methylene blue can totally wipe the beneifcal bacteria out in the filter.

looks like i just wiped the filter out then.. bollocks..

i just put in a new 1200l/h filter so hopefully will get running pretty quick.. #71### sake...

now i gotta shift all my fish... grar!

The tank might of just gone into a mini cycle.
What are your test results.
Do you mean nitrates not nitrites.
Nitrites should be 0 in a cycled tank.

no i mean nitrItes hence the uppercase I as above =-)

the morning before i treated my nitrItes were at 0.25 (after 2 weeks of ammo fun) and growing, but the morning after i had removed the methyline blue nitrItes back to 0

Am watching the cycle again now, back to daily testing =-) not a huge thing i just have to shift my angels and cons again blah

Ok.
All you can do is water changes and increase aeration.
