Hello all,

My little 54 litre tank needs a final touch before I feel its stocked. Currently I have four male guppies and a honey gourami. I want to put in 6 pygmy corries to finish it off. Do you think this is ok or a too much

other suggestions appreciated but I really want something that is mostly on the bottom

To me that would be too many.  I'd probably go with shrimp for bottom dwellers.

What are the dimensions of the tank, OP? Is your water hard or soft and what level does your nitrate level get to before a water change?

Will the gourami leave the shrimp alone though ??

Am I right in saying Pygmy corries should be in groups of at leat six or could I put say 4 in ??   pray tell

I have amano shrimp in with a pair of honey gourami and they are fine together.

water Is hard, nitrate fine and tank 60 cm long by 30 cm wide.

I just feel it needs a final touch.

I would say pygmies should be kept in groups of at least eight, preferably ten. All these nano fish are naturally quite shy, not surprisingly, and really do need larger shoals; as many as you can fit really, or you're unlikely to see them much and they might not be very happy.

Also, pygmies aren't as much bottom dwellers as other cories; they spend a lot more time midwater, especially in well planted tanks.

I don't keep gouramis, so don't know if your honey would be safe with shrimps; I'm sure someone will though

I do think shrimps might the best option.

Excellent, thanks for that; I knew someone would know

I'd have to agree that cories would be pushing it.

Shrimps and snails would be good additions

They'll like the hard water a lot more than the pygmies would as well
