Well i still have to put my tank together, but i am just curious which fish could go together in a standard 75 gallon tank (48Lx18W). the fish i want are: blue hippo tang, yellow tang, pair of clown fish (the ones like nemo), and if possible another pair of clown fish, but the ones that are black and white. i also want corals. i will add these fish in slowly not to over due with my bio load. what do you think? im gonna have like 110 pounds rock in there.

No Hippo tang, they would get too big.

One pair of clowns, has to be a massive tank to get away with multiple pairs. Some people have has duccess with adding 6 or 7 juvie clowns though but i wouldnt reccomend it.

Yellow tang would possibly be ok, but tangs are very active swimmers so need a lot of room. You would have to get a small one and then be willing ot sell it on if it got to a point where the tank seemed to small.

I would suggest a dwarf angel, flahsher wrasse, some chromis and fish like that, they stay smaller so would look more natural in the tank and you would be able to have a couple more.

I agree with Ben.
Though it think you could possibly get away with keeping the yellow tang in there, but not the hippo.
There are lots of small reef safe wrasse out there as well as other small fish like gobys which would help to cover differnt levels in your tank.

Nope

yellow tang,
Yes

Yes

Only one pair in a tank of this size. Some have purchased one regular percula and then one black and white one and have had them pair sucessfully

Leave room for additional rocks in various places. Some corals that you buy will probably be attached to a rock.

are there any other show fish other than the yellow tang i can keep in there? i want to be able to see my fish, i dont want my fish to get as big as an inch and a half and thats it.

Fish that are too big for the tank look stupid, you want fish that look like they are in a similar environment to where they would usually live.

Something like a small yellow eyes kole tang or a small bristletooth may be ok. But they are the same as the yellow, may one day require a tank bigger than yours

A lot of the reef safe wrasses will get to around 3 inches. I have a similar sized tank (though mine is shallow) and unfortunately a lot of the fish over the 3 inch mark just get way to big for this size of tank. I would not recommend any Tangs for a tank this size.

Anthias are also nice and you might want to look at shoaling fish which while they may be small could have a more "dramatic" look when viewing the tank from a distance.

Agree on the Tangs. A yellow Tang would be fine and any member of the Ctenochaetus genus would be fine as well. If you want to shell out the cash, a Chevron Tang (Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis) is a STUNNING fish. Any of the reef-safe wrasses would work great in that tank (Cirhillabrus, Pseudocheilinus, Paracheilinus, or Macropharyngodon gnus). Pseudochromis would be fine and if you want, you could consider a Niger Trigger. They're not listed as "reef safe" but they're the calmest of the Triggers and really only go after snails and shrimp.

well if im going community, could i keep the following?:

1 yellow tang

2 clown fish

3 blue/green chromis

3 damsel? hte ones with the blue body yellow tail?

as far as triggers go, i love triggers, could i keep a queen or clown trigger over the niger? i would assume if i took a trigger home it would get its own tank.

yep yep

I'd up this number to 5 due to the nature of the shoal. One can get picked on (the bottom of the pecking order) and it'll hide and starve. If you can add a few more then the odds are increased that they'll do good. Make sure to feed enough, yet not to much and observe the behaviors of the fish. Those are your best indicators. The anthias do the same thing, by the way. Anthias can be harder to get to feed.

Due to the nature of damsels, I'd go with just one instead of 3. I don't think they're that tolerant to their own species.

Try to read a tad before asking a question. Clown triggers grow up to 1'6" and the Queen up to 2'. Waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy to big for a 75 ;)
