Hi ,have tried Boots ,none there, have tried homebase[online]none, can someone direct me please on where to buy some ,thanks?

For Boots, you have to order it online to be delivered to your local branch and then pick it up from there, from what I understand. At any rate, I ended up having to order mine on eBay as none of the local Boots-like places had any.

Thanks Kitkat ,what brand did you buy ,as i want to get right one, thanks?

Hi ,is this the one from boots-http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Household-ammonia-500ml_923908/

I didn't look, it was a 9.5% solution.. but you won't get it because we don't live in the same country :p Just make sure that it contains only water and ammonia, any one of those should be fine. You will also need a syringe or pipette for measuring it out. I also got a small glass jar to store it in, as I could only get a 1 litre bottle and expect to need under 100 ml for the cycle. I dose at a rate of 1 ml per 30 litres.

Boots.. ammonia.. contains ammonia solution 9.5% with water.. yep, looks like the right one!

Thanks Kittykat for telling me the dosage, that`s really helpful as i haven`t got a clue at the moment on how to do a fishless cycle, have read thread but i`m none the wiser, will reread and hopefully will sink in a bit more, lol!

maisy, if you click on the calculator tab at the top of the forum it takes you to the calculator page. If you put in your tank dimensions it tells you what the volume is, but at the bottom it has a section for the amount of ammonia you add to get to 5ppm :good:

I recommend using 3-4 ppm, as ammonia over 5 ppm will encourage the wrong bacteria to grow and we have to take substrate and decor into account when calculating the amount needed for a dose.

I got mine from boots, they had it in stock. In their houshold cleaning part. If it helps they say use it for clothes ;)
