I was not really sure where to put this topic.... but the plants will be for my guppies, so I put it here.

I have these plastic plants that just wont sink

!  I used this string/yarn stuff to tie them to rocks. is the string bad for my fishes???

"Yarn stuff"?

I use sewing thread, fish wire (which I think is ironic), or natural twine. I wouldn't use fuzzy yarn. Do you have a picture of the stuff used?

Just use fishing line. Clear and wont harm the fish. You can use it to attach plants to decor as well.

Also, you can superglue rocks to plastic plants, let them sit for twenty-four hours and then drop them back in the tank.

+1 for fishing line. It's clear, easy to knot, tight and it doesn't rot or wear in aquariums. I use it in all my tanks and it works really well. It's also cheap. One reel will do you for ages. I've never used glue or string so I can't comment. But wouldn't string degrade over time? I'm not sure though.

If you use gel supper glue you can drop it back in the tank after you put it on, people glue coral frags like this all the time and it cures under water fast.

ok, I will see if I can get hold of some fishing line!

If you attach string to a plant an piece of wood, by the time the string degrades, the roots should have attached.

Ah that makes a lot of sense. Guppy was talking about plastic plants though, so it would have to be long-term stuff.

Yeah, I'd rather use something like aquarium sealant than any other glues, just in case. At least then I know it's safe.
