no they r actually really scared easily cause when i got close to the tank slowly they flew across!! i know for a fact my blue spotted one is prego but my bumblee looks prego but im not sure.i can see a gravid spot but its not big.
Any platy will mate with any other color platy. They are all Xiphophorus mixes since they were derived by crossing wild platies and swords to get all the color combinations we see today.
I really can't help with the results of odd combinations Biokid. I do my best to match my fish so that the outcome will be predictable. In that sense, my fish keeping is a bit dull and lacks an adventurous approach.
Almost any platy that you find in an aquarium will be mixed from some time back between wild platies and wild swordtails. All if the tail shapes and colors come from heavily mixing just the right combination and then breeding the resulting fish for specific traits over many generations. I am not sure exactly what you mean by a platy being mixed with another.
i just meant if all the platies today r mixed from other ones generations ago but nvm...todays my bday and i got a new puppy and i just wanted to share that with ppl um my female blue spotted guppy is getting fatter everyday and i always think she is gonna give birth.
i completely agree. and my puppy is doing amazing and its growing to like me more and more each day.
i lost 2 guppies and one of my platies gave birth to 11 fry over the weekend. and i found 3 fry today 2 days later and i think there r more in the tank cause its heavily planted in one corner.
ive relaeased the fry into the main tank and i think it wasnt a good idea cause some got eaten..but its cutting down my population so whenever i have a new drop i will put them in the net for only a week.so far i have 2 with color and they r my two fry with gonopodiums. i have one fry female i think cause its bigger than them and a gravid spot is visible....how big should they be at 3 months almost 4 months?
